I loved this book so much. It did not feel like almost 500 pages, it kept my attention the whole way through. I loved the cast of characters and all their relationships.
Marley was extremely relatable. Goes to show that you can be lost and confused at any age. I loved her and Vicky’s relationship and how it picked up right where they left off despite the years apart. Vicky was hilarious, I wish there was more of her at the end. I also wish that there was more of the girls soccer team at the end, we get mentions of them but after the whole part where Marley feels like she let them down but they think they let her down…I felt like they needed a scene discussing that, not just dropping off apology cards in the dead of night. I loved how the team ended up bonding together and bonding with her.
Oh speaking of the team, I was really waiting for more drama to happen with Lisabeth but that never really came about. I’m kind of glad but the way everyone seemed afraid to punish her I thought something would happen. Same with Amie Jo’s kids but that ended up working itself out. I liked that they resolved their issues.
I will say I can’t believe how long it took for Marley to realize Jake’s feelings for her. Like boy might have come up with this whole fake boyfriend to teach him how to be a real boyfriend plot but what he really meant was teach me to be your boyfriend. He was so obviously into her the whole time, he was faking nothing. I loved how into her he was.
