[ REVIEW FOR THE FIRST HALF]
This book is marvelously written. The teens speak like actual teenagers. It’s different from other novels of its kind.

But I don’t enjoy it. It’s too creepy for me. I would feel safer reading the Wikipedia summary or other good reads reviews because it’s scaring the crap out of me and my overactive imagination.

If you enjoyed the Magicians, you’d enjoy this book.

[REVIEW FOR THE SECOND HALF]
All of the spellbinding goodness of the first half of this book ended rather abruptly. It’s like going up and up and up a roller coaster hill and then at the top they let you off and you have to walk down steps to get back to the ground.

Everything was rushed. There was no anticipation and very little at stake. At one point I did feel like something might not work out, but it only lasted a chapter. Such a disappointing end
