Lock Every Door by Riley Sager

4.0

After loving my first Riley Sager book last year, The Only One Left, I’ve been keen to dive into his back list and Lock Every Door was recommended to me (by a fellow Booksta of course!) as a great start place to start. It didn’t disappoint and has firmly placed him on my auto buy authors list.

The Bartholomew is one of Manhattan’s most private building, home to the rich and famous who demand the upmost discretion from their neighbours. When down on her luck Jules is offered a new job as an apartment sitter in the building, it sounds to good to be true – to be paid to live in an exclusive building. But there are some strict rules to follow – no visitors, no nights away from the apartment and no disturbing the other residents. And there is also the buildings dark history she hears about but dismisses it as bit of urban myth until residents start disappearing….

A sign of a great thriller for me is to be kept guessing and this one certainly excelled on that front! I honestly changed my mind so many times on what was going on in this story and didn’t come close to guessing the clever ending which I loved. Riley Sager is such a master at setting a gothic scene where the building or house actually becomes a character in the story and it adds great depth to the backstory.

Lock Every Door was another twisty, entertaining that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I’m counting down for his new book due for release in July, Middle Of The Night. I can’t to see what eerie thrills he has in store for us next!
