Author: Brooke Montgomery
Couple: Magnolia Sutherland & Tripp Hollis
Tropes: best friendโs older brother, small town, not his baby, wild child FMC, childhood crush, little sisterโs best friend, cinnamon roll hero
Review: Stay With Me is a small town romance full of angst, wit and heated banter. Brooke outdid herself with the romance between Magnolia and Tripp and I wish there was more left of them! Magnolia was not the FMC I expected in all the best ways. I found her stubbornness and free spiritedness to be what drew me into this book. I enjoyed how Brooke made her character to be resilient but also perfectly flawed to match Tripp. Brooke also did the sisterโs best friend trope up well with just the right amount of angst and burn!
This book is told in sequences of time which in my opinion was needed. I enjoyed how Brooke included both Magnolia and Trippโs POV at different points as they grew up and then once Magnolia began her toxic relationship with her ex. I found this to be what drove most of the angst between them since it WAS SOO obvious that Tripp was in love with her before, during and after the โex periods.โ The slowish build up between them was an area that strengthened their characters and I found that it was perfect since Magnolia needed time to cut out her ex permanently and also open up to Tripp.
While this book was Tripp and Magnoliaโs story, I found the Hollis family to add levity to the book. I loved seeing all the brothers tease Tripp, especially Landon! I also enjoyed how they all supported Magnolia and adopted her into their family. Trippโs character was the steady force in this book that allowed for Magnolia to build a level of security in her life. The way Brooke tackled the โnot his babyโ trope was perfect and Tripp was perhaps the best cinnamon roll hero in small town romance I have read recently. I adored how he refused to let Brooke navigate it on her own and immediately stepped up and told her he would support her no matter what. I also CANNOT WAIT for Landonโs book coming next!
Rating: 5/5, an angsty romance in a small town between the golden boy and the wild child!
