After months of non-committal to this book, I’m happy to have finished it. Vernes first book had its moments and certainly sets the stage of epic journeys to follow, but like Kennedy mentioned in the final chapter “had it not been for the incident at Tchad Lake, I might have passed the full journey with nothing but a yawn”
