Broken Knight by L.J. Shen
5.0
“Moonshine,” he whispered. “You fill up the empty, dark space—like the moon owns the sky. It is quiet. It is bright. It doesn’t need to be a ball of flame to be noticed. It simply exists. It forever glows.”
This book was just pain, pain, pain, pain, and more pain. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?? I made a rule of only reading happy romances and then?? I?? read?? this?? book??
We all knew it was coming. In fact, I’d read spoilers about it. But the worst part isn’t actually reading about it, but seeing the reactions of the other characters. Ughhhh I don’t even want to write a full review. so.
Ugh ok I do. I keep bringing up character development in every review of this series but somehow the arcs just keep getting better and better? Before this book and earlier on, Luna was never weak, but she wasn’t able to be strong either. Until she was. Until she was the bravest character I’ve ever seen. You wouldn’t even recognize her if you went from page 10 of this book to the last 10 pages.
“Make mistakes. Be free. Be bold. Treat teenage as a verb.”
Knight was messed up and full of secrets. Secrets that he started revealing as he stopped hiding. I can’t even describe what he went through during this book, but the way he persevered proves that he’s strong.
“Life is like a book, a long chain of scenes threaded together by circumstances and fate. You never know how thick or thin your book is, so you better make the most out of every scene, enjoy each chapter.”
Might not have rated this 5 stars if not for her, but I couldn't give this book any less without having that on my conscience so...
