The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

2.0

I bought and started this while still riding high off of The Secret History. Big mistake. This almost felt like it was written by a different person. Not in a bad way, but I should not have gone into it with the expectation that I would love it as much as the Secret History, I let myself down there.

This book follows a boy throughout a big chunk of his life, separated by different age jumps. Each age felt like the beginning and middle were interesting pushed the plot forward, but each age also felt like it stretched on way too long. It became repetitive and, honestly, I don't think this book needed to be more than 550 pages max. So many things were unscary and could have been edited out. Including the typos.
