"I was taught that words mean nothing, but she’s made me realize they are important."

When I finished this book, I needed some time to process the story because a lot happened in the last half. I have read some of the books in this series so I wasn't completely unaware about how things worked in the society but this book left me feeling so confused in the first few chapters. I had absolutely no idea what was going on and I was as clueless as Charlotte was. At first, I thought that she'd be different than all the other female main characters of this series because she had the potential to outsmart these Lords but I felt so disappointed when she danced to Haiyden's tunes. Still, the smut was too intense so I was able to overlook that lol. Haiyden was a good friend, partner and protector. The way he took care of Charlotte was nice and I could definitely feel the connection between them but I didn't understand how they fell in love because all they did was have sex and play games. The actual story was in the last few chapters and that's when I could finally understand what was going on. In my opinion, the first half was dragged on unnecessarily and I had to skim over a few parts too. But overall, the book was enjoyable. I couldn't put it down because the mystery and twists and turns were well fabricated. So, I'd give this one a solid 3.5 stars.
