A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Readability: 5/5

Feyre survived Amarantha's test and has returned to the Spring Court. She is now a High Fae, but can forget all the terrible things she did to get to where she is. Feyre also hasn't forgotten about Rhysand and their bargain. As more threats rise, Feyre finds herself in a land about to be torn apart.

If you liked Tamlin from the first book, be prepared for him to be antagonized and literally be aligned with the central villain of this book, the King of Hybern. As for Rhysand, he gets more development and more information is revealed about his Court and his past. He just becomes generally more likable. Finally, our main character, Feyre. She definitely became more assertive and (obviously) stronger. I personally didn't see a problem with her before, but I do know some people thought she wasn't as strong (development-wise) as other main characters in other books.

As for the plotline, I felt like there was a lot of filler.
The first 25% of the book was dedicated to getting Feyre out of the Spring Court and into the Night Court, the next 55% was dedicated to backstories, training, and learning more information, the next 10% was dedicated to establishing the official start Feyre and Rhysand's relationship as mates, and the last 10% was dedicated to actually going to fight/stop the King of Hybern.
I appreciated the extra information, but 626 pages is a lot for just preparation and a couple of chapters of actual action. It's like when they split up the last Harry Potter or Hunger Games, the first movie/part was to establish and the action only came at the end of the first movie/part or at the second movie/part.

Overall, I liked the first book better, but I still enjoyed this book enough to finish it in 2 days. I honestly thought I would've taken me much longer than that, considering how long I had taken to read Waste of Space and Shatter me. I guess it really shows that, if I enjoy a book and it's series, I will devour the book and spend any free time reading it.
