Reef Road by Deborah Goodrich Royce
4.0
This book is like a dark, twisted mystery “fairy” tale.
I say that as in, the narration and the way it is written feels like a slow moving crime narrative being told to you like a bedtime story.
It’s very onion-layer like. You must flow through it like you’re peeling an onion to get to the pungent center.
I rather enjoyed my time with it. It was one layer after another.
I will say my only issue is a slight one. I struggle when books misrepresent mental illness, especially BPD, so I couldn’t give it a full five stars because the use of BPD did bother me in the way the author used it.
