Det. Insp. Bill Quinn is shot with a crossbow bolt in the heart in the grounds of St Peter’s Police Convalescence and Treatment Centre, 4 miles north of Eastvale.   Det. Insp. Banks has a lot on his plate investigating a complex case that reaches far beyond Eastvale, with D.I. Annie Cabbot returning to active duty after extensive sick leave and feeling very anxious about fitting back into the team and the arrival of Joanna Passero from Professional Standards shadowing his every move.

We basically have several mysteries for the price of one as lots of tangled threads lead us down so many different paths and with two teams working flat out to uncover the truth.  It feels quite tense and the risks are dangerous for our detectives discovering who are the good guys/girls and the bad guys/girls.  Banks is our hero always determined to uncover the truth and he lets nothing get in his way, Annie is at  times exasperating and annoying but she is also kind and wants to be the best cop she can be.  I enjoy my visits to Eastvale and look forward to my next one.
