The magic of the first two books flew right out the window with this one. Two themes were repeated constantly throughout the book - she's a gamer and his would do anything for his dad's aporoval. The first turned annoying and the second lost all its impact.  And while the FMCs in the first two books were able to master their magic, this FMC never seemed to. It felt incomplete.
