I did not know what to expect with this classic but wow, I’m in love. It’s sapphic and has vampires??? I’m really not complaining there. The tone feels like a magical weird dream turned nightmare. I loved the prose and narration soooo much and I am obsessed with the lack of use of the word vampire in the actual story. I was half way through it before it was even uttered. It creates this really great dramatic irony, where we (the reader) know it’s a story about vampires, but the narrator is just enthralled by this beautiful girl, not knowing anything about the superstition of vampires. It was sweet and creepy at the same time. I LOVE IT
