Obsidio by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff
5.0
IM BROKEN!!!!!!!
This series was such a magnificent ride and experience that cannot be topped. Obsidio wrecked my emotions and make me want to scream. However, this was a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy.
Kristoff and Kauffman create such intricate and detailed plots. I say this every review, but I am continuously blown away. Again, there’s some science jargon that flies over my head, but it doesn’t take away from the excitement and intrigue of the storyline. This series is pretty plot focused to me and I very much enjoyed it. The characters didn’t have loads of depth, but they are all interesting and likable, and have some pretty angsty backstories.
Illuminae is just so iconic, and should go down as one of the best science fiction series of the 2010s. If you’re looking for something different that is filled with angst and gore, but also some lovable romances and friendships, I would recommend this. There are many dark themes in Illuminae, but I feel like there is also a lot of comic relief. Overall, the series is such a different experience that allows readers to digest information through pictures, diagrams, maps, and more. It is not your typical book!
Obsidio is a great conclusion because it introduces some new characters, while keeping other characters from the last two books involved. The story is high-paced with twists and turns that honestly left me speechless. This entire series was a 10/10 for me.
