Jonathan Franzen has fallen out of favor, but I still enjoy his style of writing. If you like Jonathan Franzen and his intricate portraits of suburban banality and the failed vision of the “American Dream,” this is… more of that. It’s bloated and self-indulgent, like all Franzen novels, but if you liked his previous books, you’ll probably enjoy this one too.
