I read an entire book about a sport, and I still do not understand the sport at all. I read a book with an entire sports team of main characters, and I did not like a single character at all.

If this had not been highly recommended to me I would have given up within a few chapters, I pushed through thinking the reason everyone loved it would become apparent later in the book but it did not. At all.

Also this author is slandering people who take antipsychotic drugs, this is terrifyingly problematic in that sense. You do not get high from them, you do not "come off them" in three simple stages especially not a crash during which you are functioning enough to play a high-intensity sport??? I could scream
