I found Cathedral to have quite the impact on me. It wasn't a big, flashy impact, but more of a slow burn impact. Several of the stories would sit in my mind for a few days after I read them. As I thought about them, the themes would unfold in my mind. Something about the way Raymond Carver writes is unique and rather affecting. He has an ear for how real people talk, or talk past one another.
His short, minimalist way of writing is served well here, and I'm excited to put this down and read it again in another year or so.
