I still really love this world, but this has to be my least favourite of the ones I've read. Pretty much all of that is due to Etienne, who acts like a teenager with no regard for or comprehension of anyone's feelings (not even his own). I'm really not a fan of how his manipulative tactics of keeping Rachel close - using her ignorance of this world he's thrown her into to feed her false information and basically imprison her without any bars needed - isn't dealt with or acknowledged as the awful thing to do it is at all.
Rachel was a delight, though, from her initial insistence on how everything had to be a dream to her revelling in her newfound abilities. And seeing other, more beloved characters around kept this from falling below a three.
