I would like to start this review by saying I did not realize this would be a direct series instead of a companion novel, so this book does not complete the story of Nova and Clay. This was my fault for not knowing, but man I AM SO SAD LOL!! I need the rest of their story asap!
Now, onto the review!
I seriously fell in love with Nova and Clay's characters! Both of them were so layered and have pasts that they find hard to talk about. Clay was so misunderstood at first and I was so happy that he was able to open up to Nova, and that he found comfort in her. Nova has a hard relationship with her sister, but being there to visit for her sister's wedding really made Nova feel so alone. I am glad that she and Clay got to find companionship with each other even if they tried to deny and resist it.
THE ENDING?! I cannot. I NEED more. I will admit, the lack of communication did bother me a bit. I wish there was an actual conversation before the conflict happened but I also get it since there are more books coming. I already know the drama is coming between Harlan (sister's now husband) being the literal worst person ever and Nova potentially seeing Clay again. I AM READY FOR IT
Spoilers on the ending for future me because I will likely forget before the next book comes so here's the refresher Harlan convinced Clay that he wasn't good enough for Nova and needs to let her go (why it's his business is beyond me) and so he apparently wrote her a letter for Harlan to give to her, to let her go. Harlan said he will only sign the papers for Clay to go to LA if he lets Nova go (again, idk why it affects him). Brooke shows up and is now forcing Nova to pursue her art in Denver after she receives an email saying the basketball team loves her work and wants her to make something for them after she was featured in a magazine for her drawings of the players from the auction. Nova is now heading back to Denver, sure she will run into Clay. They have not spoken since he ghosted her w the letter at the wedding.
Overall, loveddd this book! Direct series aren't my favorite, but I am excited to see how Nova and Clay's story continues.
