Rock the Heart by Michelle Valentine
5.0
This is for all the Long-Dick Dongs out there…
Noel Falcon Sings with all his soul, Parties like a Rock Star, and Loves with everything in him…But can he truly be happy and have what/who he wants in the end?
I was looking forward to this one and it came out EARLY! I was so excited to see that it had gone live and couldn’t wait to get started on it. I bought it and started to read but of course life got in the way and so I had to put it off till after the kids were in bed but after that.. it was on like donkey-kong I read it all in less then 7 hours. So yes today I am a zombie I don’t usually stay up until 4am reading, but this one was worth it. I wasn’t expecting a real erotic type of book but it does have its moments. It isn’t too much but it is there! So I would say it is a VERY happy medium for those who want some steamy hotness but not full on (as some would say) “pornish” type of read. (although I do enjoy me some book porn too! I mean who doesn’t ;))
Right from the get go when Laine goes to talk with Noel about his charity (since she is in marketing) but he doesn’t know she is at the concert waiting to speak with him, he sees her and he makes a little dedication, I couldn’t stop cracking up, I knew right there that there was so much hurt that was going to have to be played out and ohhh how I love me some angst.
“This next song goes out to the girl who shredded my heart without hesitation back in high school. It’s called Ball Busting Bitch, and Lanie this one’s for you.”
I have been wanting a good rock star read and this filled that spot for me till I need another fix. I would have to say (and to be 100% honest) YES I loved this story for more reasons then it was a rock star book . I also have to say that there were moments that I had forgotten that Noel was a rock star, because she went more into the story of Noel and Lanie. Right when I start to feel like it is just a normal romance BAM I get reminded that nope this is special (to me rock star books are) and not just a normal read. I would have to say that the only thing that I wish we got more of would be the guys. I mean we know they are there but I kind of wanted a little more interaction with the twins and Riff. But with her writing… just when you feel like you miss them.. there they are. I was on edge for some of the book (which was why I couldn’t stop and just go to bed I had to keep going) I needed to know what the hell was going on because I knew something was going on just not sure what it was.
“A lot can happen in four years, Lanie”
Just when you feel like okay, I may not be finding out what is going on in this book this woman is going to make me wait for the next one isn’t she? …. all hell breaks loose! I cried, wanted to beat people, and wanted to just comfort some. I had so many different scenarios running through my head at one point that I had to stop and take a deep breath and tell myself to stop getting worked up and finish reading to find out what really happens and not try and guess what I think will happen.
One of the parts that really just got to me and I still keep thinking about and I honestly do not think I will ever forget this because it just was so touching and I am sure that so many out there have probably experienced or know exactly how this moment feels…
“I lean and press my lips to his and he shuts his eyes. He tenses and tentatively moves his lips with mine. A single tear rolls down his cheek. He feels it too.”
Well by 4am I was done and wide awake. I had so much going on inside my head after finishing the book I had to play a music video and laid in bed and just cried. I don’t know what it was that pulled me in so much, but I got sucked in.
All in all I did fall in love with Noel and Lane. I enjoyed the book and know it was a good one when I was giggling crying, and getting pissed off then getting happy. If I can read a book and it evokes so many different emotions it is a keeper!!! Plus who wouldn’t love an author who uses the word GAGGLE!!!!
