This book jumps straight in with no preamble.

Professor Richards is a member of a BDSM fraternity/secret society. We are thrown straight in the deep end (no pun intended) in the first few pages and we get to witness the professor during a visit to one of the resident submissives that are available for members to use freely.

I have to say I don’t enjoy watching future book-boyfriends screw other women but it seems fitting to explain what the place is and what Professor Richards’ predilections are.

Woah! Ginger on a butt 🔌. That sounds not very cool at all 😱. It’s obvious through the entire interaction the professor is a sadist.

One huge thing of note. He is ducking these (shared) women with no protection 🤢. I’m all for getting your rocks off but STIs aren’t the one. It does state later in the book that all participants have to be screened every 30 days but 30 days is still long enough for something to spread like wildfire.

Professor Richards even thinking about denying aftercare is awful and has knocked him down at least a couple of points in my book.

I’m only 30 pages in but Professor Richards does not seem like a nice man. I’m hoping that there is at least some redemption to be found for him.

There is a lot of manipulation and abuse of power going on, even for a teacher/student book, where it is expected. Melody is attracted to him, but he doesn’t know that yet. So he engineers a way to back her into a corner with no choice but to submit to him.

The dub-con is so dubious I’m pretty sure it’s gone over the line to non-con. Although they technically give her a choice, it’s no more than an illusion. They know she isn’t in a position to refuse. I still don’t like Professor Richards and it makes me angry every time he ducks someone else.

Sharing isn’t my favourite, nor is it something I actively seek out in a book, however it seems to be a common theme through this one at this point. I get the feeling though that as the professor gets more attached to Melody, the less happy he will be to have another’s hands on her.

Chelsea seems like an utter ditch! I get that she’s jealous and she thought there might be something between her and Professor Richards but damn girl, have some self respect! The man clearly doesn’t want you.

The professor’s feelings for Melody have been growing, despite his efforts to remain emotionally distant and he claims her at her initiation ceremony with the rule that he is the only one to penetrate her.

I started to slightly warm to Professor Richards seeing the genuine concern he has for her even though it seems to be completely against his nature.

Side-note: I had to google the correct plural for phallus, it is indeed phalli and I now have a new favourite word.

I knew Chelsea was a devious skank. Can’t say I’ve got much sympathy for her being shipped off to Grigori.

The book ends as a HEA but to be honest there isn’t much substance to the relationship between the 2 MMCs. I didn’t really fall in love with Professor Richards and I thought Melody was a bit of a drip and ridiculously naive at points.
