The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory
3.0
Cute, quick read that definitely helps to take your mind off the gloom and doom of the last few months. It’s just the kind of book I needed to break out of my reading drought. I didn’t intend to take that long to read it, but I was also reading other books at the same time.
Two strangers are stranded together in a hotel elevator and through fate, they ended up liking each other WAY more than they thought they would. It’s not a deep or intellectual plot and it wasn’t supposed to be. But there is of course the general angst with work issues and family. But overall, it’s not stressful or hard to get through the book. There was definitely the avoidance of the issues that would accompany an interracial relationship and I thought that was cool because it just allowed us to enjoy their relationship as they learned to enjoy each other. It would have been a completely different book if race was front and center so I liked it exactly the way is was written.
It’s really a 3.5 stars read because it’s so well-written. Plot-wise, it’s not a 4 star book, but I have nothing negative to say about this breezy read. Great job!
