Sleepless by Louise Mumford
5.0
The white-crowned sparrow can survive and function with no sleep... can you?
Thea is at her wit's end, moving through life blurry, groggy and desperate for sleep. She spends every night wide awake, begging for slumber to take her in its arms, drifting off only when it is time to get up for work. After seeing the incessant ad for a sleep trial on her phone several times, Thea finally decides to inquire after a traumatic incident related to her extreme fatigue. After being accepted into the program, Thea finds that things are not quite all they seem, and there are dangers waiting for her inside and out of the sleep center. After a string of horrifying events, Thea fears that the next time she closes her eyes could be the last...
This is the most thrilling and captivating book I have read in a while. I absolutely loved this book, while also feeling anxious, disturbed and truly in the dark about what could be waiting for me in the conclusion of this novel. I am so blown away by this debut novel by Louise Mumford and will be keeping my eye out for her future novels.
