when the fmc was first introduced in the previous book as a psychiatrist and later uncovered to be hitwoman liken to harley quinn i was immediately obsessed. i couldn’t have imagined that she would turn out to be one of my all time favorites female characters. i don’t think i’ve ever read a more broken badass ever. she was morally black, not even gray. whenever she broke down and then switched her emotions off i was equally in awe and aching for her. this story was a love letter to women, not only powerful women but scarred little girls. and the way her man loved her, worshipped the ground she walked on, but most of all supported and anchored all her demons. it was love at first murder attempt. the more she tried to kill him the harder he fell. that’s one of the best microtropes. and this book did it to utter perfection. not to mention that the smut in this was downright nasty in the best way possible. i need more blood play and fighting as foreplay in books.
