Sadie by Courtney Summers

First, I insist this book be "read" as an audiobook, especially if you're already a fan of true crime podcasts. This book is what you want when you're listening to a podcast and they're telling you the events and what their investigation discovers and you're like "what in the world was she thinking?!?!".... With this book you get those answers. Not super clearly and not always in the way you want to find out, but you get both sides and that's oddly satisfying. I'm not going to get into the synopsis of the story, you can read the blurb yourself. All I will tell you is that it was very good, especially listening to it. You learned exactly who these people are, you get clear pictures of them in your mind and I had this movie cast by the time I was halfway through (Margo Martindale as May Beth for sure!). Also there was much of it I guessed as it was happening but it was still a little of a gut punch finding out because when you think the worst you really want to be wrong. It's sort of hard to accurately review this story because I am trying very hard not to give anything away so you can figure it all out on your own, but just know it's very good, a lot messy and heartbreakingly honest. I will definitely be thinking about Sadie for quite awhile now that I've finished her story.
