Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda
4.0
Hazel is the daughter of Mirror Lake’s local detective and has unexpectedly inherited her childhood home. She warily returns to the town and people she’s avoided for almost a decade. A drought has descended on the region, causing a drop in the lake’s water levels, and revealing long-hidden secrets… including evidence that can help solve the mystery of Hazel’s mother’s disappearance.
DAUGHTER OF MINE has an exquisitely written, atmospheric setting. I love Megan Miranda’s settings – they’re always so well done and feel truly eerie and immersive.
The characters are interesting with great characterization and intricate interpersonal family dynamics. The plot is compelling, mysterious, and well-written. It is more of a slow burn mystery, but it is highly captivating as the story unfolds to a nail-biting ending.
The audiobook narration is very well done, easily bringing the story to life. I’ll be on the lookout for Miranda’s next book!
