This book made me teary! I adore Allen Say’s books. Such simple stories, but they stick with you.

This is a story about an American little girl who grows up wanting to leave for Japan. After high school, she does just that. However, arriving in the super city of Tokyo bursts her dreams of the quiet, quaint Japan she though she’d live.

My daughter is 9 and also dreams of living in Japan. This touched my mama heart is a beautiful way. This may have taken the place as favorites when it comes to Say’s work.
