If this novel reads as *inevitable*, as I believe it does, it must. TOG is a devilishly excellent book that more than lives up to the tone and pacing established in The Fifth Season. Jemisin does a marvelous job of delivering a compelling and unique story with an uncanny and delicious narrative structure as well as voice. I can’t say enough for how much fun this reads: it’s the end of a world and, as the characters in this book do, you’re going to have to (literally) love it to get there. So to speak.
