The Lies We Told by Camilla Way
5.0
So so so addicting and entertaining! I loved it! This is my October BOTM pick and it's a thriller that has two main POV's: Beth in the 1980's and Clara in 2017. Beth is the mother of this little girl Hannah, who is a rather dangerous little girl, and they aren't sure what exactly is wrong with her. Hannah's character was fascinating to me and she was very entertaining to read about. Then, we have Clara's POV in 2017, and her boyfriend Luke has recently gone missing and you are trying to figure out what happened and how these two timelines are connected.
This book was surprising as hell. I've read a lot of thrillers and I thought I had this one figured out, I made several predictions and I was wrong every time. I was so addicted to this story and the writing I found it very hard to put down. I felt so much for Beth and her struggles with her daughter and feeling so hopeless with trying to get help for her. I also was captivated by the mystery of Luke's disappearance and trying to figure out what happened.
This book was packed with plot twists and it has everything I look for in a good thriller! It even had some creepy, (spooky/paranormal) feeling scenes that gave me chills which made it perfect to read at this time of year in my opinion. I can't wait to read more from this author!
Book one of the Spookathon is complete!
