Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

This is me shoving this entire review up my as* and eating my words because I actually love this book now that I am rereading it. Will come back with more news and my tail between my legs once I finish it.

Well, I finished this book for the second time. After deleting the most brutal and cruel review I have ever written for a book, I have changed my rating from 2 and a half stars to 5 stars.

Maybe this is the sort of series you need to read twice to really enjoy it. I still blame the fucker who told me I didn't need to read Assasin's Blade at the beggining of the series. Here is the RIGHT order > TOG > Assassin's Blade > Crown of Midnight > Heir of Fire > Queen of Shadows > TOD AND EOS as a TANDEM and then KOA.

The character development, wow. No one does character development like this. Dorian maturing from Prince to King, Chaol abandoning all his beliefs, Celeana welcoming Aelin, Rowan overcoming grief, Manon beginning to question her upbringing... I have seen them grow before my eyes in the most organic way possible.

This is possibly the best writing I have seen in years, the most unbelievable world building and word play. If you read this right and you commit your time and attention to it, you will not regret it. Shocking, breathtaking and one of the biggest adventures I've been on since watching Pirate's of the Carribean or reading the entire Series of Unfortunate Event's series. (What, did you think I was going to mention Harry Potter? Fuck Harry Potter lmao)

I will move on to my Queen of Shadows reread while humiliating myself publicly for ever hating and shitting on Manon. I'll see you soon. Both my Queens await.
