This super fun, informative book is about A smart little squirrel and his timid puppy pal who go and visit three different jungles in their paper airplane. They go to Africa, South America, and Asia. In each jungle they come upon a variety of animals, and the smart little squirrel explains them to his friend. The puppy isn't much of an adventurer, but loves it once it is over.
The artistry of this book is really quite neat. The main characters are drawn in a Sunday comic style, utilizing only two colors, but the jungle scenes depicted below the comic are vibrant and rich in details. The squirrel gives brief information about each spot and animal, while the puppy provides comedy getting into little spats of trouble.
At the end of this book, there is a wrap-up where the author takes us through a variety of the animals shown and gives us a more in depth look at them. They also include a mention of saving endangered species, but it is just mentioned, not preachy at all.
I really enjoyed this book. I think kids 3-7 would enjoy it. The younger ones as their parents read it to them would be captivated by the beautiful pictures, while the older children could learn about the different animals and places. I recommend this book to parents and children's libraries. Great book!
