I was left feeling nauseated after reading this, not because of the crudeness of war or the war related situations the character is often found in, but because of that ending... Ghastly... I'm not exactly a sucker for happy endings but this is beyond all understanding. Why take such pains to meticulously describe the lovely sensations of unexpectedly being in love for the first time, only to give the characters just a few weeks of happiness?
