4.5

The characters feel like real people and though they have their flaws, you find yourself caring for and loving them. The story is based on Sami culture and the issues they face with the justice system when it comes to hate crimes and their livlihood being put aside time and time again. You see snippets of a dark history as well as how hate begins to fester from childhood to adulthood. There are complexities and just such a good job at showing each character and their perspective, why they do the things they do, even if it doesn't change our view on them as a bad person. Over-all a fantastic book and heavily recommend reading it, the writing flows really well and the characters truly make the story so real.
