Well, that's that, I suppose. I still think that the politics of this series are totally wack, and that it's pretty basic even for a kid's series. I'm not sure I would even like it much if I didn't have people in my life who grew up with it. The gender dynamics are eye-roll-worthy and the conclusion is a very Black Panther-esque "The bad guys had a point so we will do some reform but obviously they had to lose and die." But I know enough about the series' fandom to really appreciate the representation for disabled, neglected, and neurodivergent kids. Hopefully Riordan's other series just build on what's enjoyable about this. As for the final book itself, it's a decent by-the-numbers Hero's Journey finale.
