Evidence Not Seen: A Woman's Miraculous Faith in the Jungles of World War II by Darlene Deibler Rose

5.0

Beautiful. This is a re-read from pre-2015, meaning I didn't have a review for it before. Now, I can tell you that this is one of my favorite WWII memoirs, and probably my favorite from the Pacific theater.

One part of the writing that I really loved was that, while you always understood the depth of sorrow and suffering, Mrs. Rose did not dwell upon the hurt. She did not go into detail as to the "humiliation" suffered by one of her friends at the hands of the Kempeitai. The cruelty and horrors of war make this book most suitable for the over-16 crowd, but if it fell into the hands of someone younger, it would not be too much necessarily. What a good book!
