Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire

Wow, wow, wow. This was so much more amazing than I thought it would be... I'm just blown away.
I seriously love the premise of this book and I'm glad it didn't disappoint. I loved learning the little bits about all the different worlds out there and the different classifications for them. I loved the characters so much, which is impressive given the short amount of time we got to spend with them. I liked that Nancy's world was one that most readers wouldn't like, yet she was still a likable character. I loved the representations of asexuality and transgender in this book.
I also really loved how the book ended. I didn't want a "I can find my place in a world I don't belong in" ending, so I was very pleased with the last page. Though, I would have liked to see Nancy meeting the Lord of the Dead again.
My only real complaint about this book was that the killer became obvious a while before it was revealed. Maybe the reader was supposed to get it before the characters did, but I got it in about two seconds so the reveal felt a little lackluster (but not completely because a lot happened right after it to keep the story moving).
I just really, really enjoyed this!
