Pride by Eva Charles
5.0
The highly anticipated wait for PRIDE by Eva Charles was worth every minute. The latest installment of the Sinful Empire Trilogy does not disappoint! 5-Stars
Swoonworthy Rafael Hunstman and the now very grown up Alexis (Lexie) Clarke take their place center stage in this duet and the sexual tension is through the roof! An intimate moment shared in the past creates for the angst, as neither of them forgot. Years later, they find themselves face to face when Lexie lands herself in a sketchy situation, threatening her life. As pissed as Rafael is with her, he cannot deny that his feels for her are much more than looking out for his niece, Valentina's best friend with an uber-overprotective father. Together, they find themselves knee-deep in a human trafficking ring and both of them are forced to face reality- they both want and need each other like they need air to breathe.
When I found out that Rafael would be receiving his own story, I was over the moon thinking that I would get another heaping serving of that Hunk-- er, excuse me... Huntsman fire that is ever-present in GREED, LUST, and ENVY. Well, I wasn't let down in the least as this book was "all that" and then some!
Make no mistake... while you can see the commanding presence and badassery in Rafael as having raised been raised by Antonio, Rafael is his own damn man, and you see this in his actions and the way he interacts with Lexie and his entourage. Lexie was raised by strong, alpha-parents, so you can guess correctly that she is going to be a handful for whomever she is with. What I love most about her is that she wasn't bratty or entitled despite being sheltered her entire life. As you can expect, when you put two individual powerhouses with strong personalities in the same room, you get smexy, explosive fireworks!
These two singed the cover of my Kindle they burned so hot! I should send the bill for another to Ms. Charles seeking damages! :)
I kid you not, the cliffhanger had me literally on the edge of my seat and whimpering out loud. I will be biting my nails until WRATH. I've already cleared my calendar on its release day!
Happy reading!
