The Shadow in the Glass by J.J.A. Harwood
2.0
I didn’t hate it but really didn’t like this book. Baaaarely a Cinderella retelling first off, far more a generic found a genie lamp story if anything, and a heavy handed series of descriptions.
My biggest issue is that it felt like the book had a lot more in it tying back to Eleanor’s childhood and the family’s past but an editor chopped all those parts out. I’m still frustrated at what I thought was coming that never showed up. Why spend so much time laying the breadcrumbs to a far more interesting g story just to abandon that path?
Ugh… I don’t get why people felt this story was anything higher than a flat 3 stars.
