Another cracker from Bryson. This is a seriously chunky book, which from the title had me slightly apprehensive, but obviously I should never have worried.
Bryson pulls off an extraordinarily readable but book, about the house of all things. It's really about history, and England, and people, and all those forgotten tidbits of history that, while not world-changing, make times past real and warm (and occasionally horrible and disgusting).
An excellent read.
