The end of my Mimi Grace binge. I think this one was my favorite. I really love how light her books feel while still having the romantic tension that has you begging the characters to get together. However, if you don’t like the “miscommunication trope” I wouldn’t recommend this. The main issue keeping Gwen and Anthony apart is that they won’t tell each other their feelings. Thought the book this made me so angry at Gwen because Anthony might be the perfect man? Ungrateful! She figures it out eventually.
Another thing I loved were the dates!! A fall festival? Pumpkin weight competitions, apple cider, near death by an accelerating gourd? This is how you write cute rom coms.
My favorite part of all of these books are the community surrounding the MCs. I want Enoch and Katherine to be my god parents. They were so refreshing and funny while being those supportive guides for struggling MCs. I will never stop speaking about the importance of portraying a black community for black characters. Your book just won’t make sense without it. Miss Grace continues to show how enriching these side characters are to the growth of Black characters and their growth.
Again, another short, sweet, and funny book for when you want a relaxing read!!
