I don't read a lot of science fiction. I don't have a problem with world-building and space ships and those bits were extremely well-done here. But I really don't enjoy action narratives and non-stop has plenty of hand to hand combat and violent destruction. However it also has a mature assessment of human suffering and purpose. The denouement was powerful, but for me wrapped up in far too much action. But then that probably appeals to science fiction's usual readers.
