Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez
4.5
I was surprised how much I liked this book. I really appreciated that there wasn’t a miscommunication troupe anywhere in sight - something I often experience with romance books. It was real people that had real issues that were keeping them from staying together. I also appreciated the honest looks at abandonment, mental health issues, foster care, death of a parent, taking care of siblings, etc. While I loved Justin and Emma, I especially loved the love and support of Emma and Maddy. This book ended up being an unexpected great read for me. I think reading it in the summer made it even better.
Sidenote: I’ve read the other books in the Part of Your World universe but didn’t realize the books were related until I recognized a few of the names and settings. I feel like I need to read all of them again so I can pick up on all the Easter eggs. So fun!
