The Darkest Road by Guy Gavriel Kay

3.0

The Darkest Road concludes the Fionavar trilogy in a style similar to so many other fantasy trilogies -- the war finally happens, the good guys finally face their challenges, there are casualties on both sides, but ultimately things are resolved.

Even with the somewhat predictable course of events in this book, Kay does a good job of wrapping up lose ends, continuing to weave a world filled with magic and complexity, and illuminating the lives of the original five sent to Fionavar.

Overall the Fionavar series was an okay read -- not close to my favourite work by Kay, but well written and interesting.
