Feminism is for Everybody by bell hooks

4.0

A really good read! Really informative, even though it touched on topics I already know quite a bit about. I think this is a good text for people who are beginning to learn about feminism, although I disagree with hooks’ assertion that this book is a baseline introduction to feminism. I think hooks is too radical for some, and I know if I were to give this to some people they would run in the other direction the minute she mentioned socialism. I think people starting off with feminism are scared of radical feminism, and even though there’s nothing to be afraid of, they could use it to confirm their views. Anyways, still a really enjoyable and informative read, just not quite the end all be all feminist introduction hooks purports it to be.
