Another Beast's Skin by Jessika Grewe Glover

3.0

Neysa's life is in free fall, her dad passed away and she just went through a divorce. She does the only thing she can think of and seeks a fresh start in the wilderness of the countryside.

There were several things I enjoyed about Neysa, her indomitable spirit, her knowledge and expertise in swords, and her domination of the stock market. She is a mess of contradiction, serious, vulnerable, sweet, but most of all brave. Despite the severe odds that are continuously stacked against her, there is resilience, an inability to cower in the face of danger. I enjoyed her natural curiosity and her thirst for knowledge.

The secondary characters were intriguing and the premise of the story kept me engaged. There was an easy rhythm and chemistry to the characters that comes from great writing and plotting. I enjoyed the urban fantasy spin where the traditional world meets the modern and thought the execution was phenomenal.

My only concern is that sometimes the narration threw me off a bit and I wasn't quite sure why certain scenes occurred. This could very well be resolved or addressed within the sequel so I won't whine too much about these minute details at this point.

Thank you to GenZ Publishing for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.
