brilliant fucking book truly i was completely drawn in by both women and their relationship with one another, the issue of race, racial dynamics, stereotyping and discrimination was so huge in the book that it almost took a backseat to the weird employee/employer-friendship these two women shared i haven’t felt so blown away and amazed by a book in a very long time the twist really nailed it for me and cemented this as one of the best books of the year for me. i definitely want to reread this in a few months and understand every nook and cranny more carefully
