The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri

4.0

One of the book's big theme centres around this special life choices of humans & their emotions against the challenges & rewards during the process: moving to an entire new country and reinventing themselves, while still trying to hold on to the traditions that they have grown up with, transferring the traditions upon their children, the reactions of the 2nd generations.

The author brilliantly captures even the most fleeting feelings and the book in general is a great slow burn, the more I read, the better it gets. As a person who live far away from home myself, I really connect with many of the characters in the book, and appreciate how the author understandingly describe the difficulties. I also enjoyed reading about the culture of India here, it appears lively in the book and that's a great way to learn more about the world around.
