Not my cup of tea. I was disappointed that I saw a couple of the plot twists coming very early on in the book. The concept of Caraval is attractive and I feel like the book has a lot of elements that normally make me love a book: magic, fantasy, intrigue, adventure, etc. However, there was no world-building, which is a crying shame because Caraval has so much potential for beautiful and mind-bending description. There was also no character development! It was just plot point after plot point.

I really wanted to like this book but I won’t be reading the next two to find out if the series grabs me more later.
