Writing style was beautiful, but the book had very little plot. It was mostly lore setup, and it was very repetitive. I won’t be continuing with the series (for a while) but it was enjoyable. Ish.

The first half was agony to get through, and I only like the second half because of the lore. I’m a big sucker for lore.

I didn’t like any of the characters. Karou (in the beginning) screamed of I’m Not Like Other Girls™ and eventually became even worse: boring. I didn’t feel any connection to Akiva, and I was really hoping he would die to spark some sort of plot in this book.
