I loved this omg
I usually don't do well w YA or teen books but this felt grown and had so many moving parts.
It's very short, and is essentially a possession story but then has like eco-horror components, feminist critique of the church, the necessity of the Nahuatl language to be kept alive, and coming-of-age issues as well for a group of girls in the barrio.
I loved thatthe inhabitant was not necessarily evil or that any inhabitant has necessarily been evil but simply misunderstood by white male dominated spaces like the church who would of course see a woman acting out as evil or possessed. That made this story unique.
